Christy Haywood is the Senior Instructor at Apex Phlebotomy Institute and author of this workbook, bringing more than a decade of hands-on phlebotomy experience to the classroom. Since 2015, she has served as a Patient Services Representative and Phlebotomist with Mako Medical Laboratories in Raleigh, NC, specializing in specimen collection, drug screens, and pathology and cytology samples. Previously, Christy worked at UNC REX Hospital as a Customer Service Tech/Phlebotomist, developing strong skills in venipuncture, patient identification, and patient care. She earned her Phlebotomy Certificate from Wake Technical Community College in 2014. Her previous experience as an Executive Office Manager at IBM also strengthened her skills in organization, communication, and training. Christy combines clinical expertise, operational knowledge, and a patient-centered approach to prepare students with the practical skills, confidence, and professionalism needed to succeed as phlebotomy professionals.
